Rose Wildeman, OSB

Recording Secretary

Sr. Rose Wildeman is from Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, IN. She was a liturgist and music teacher at several parishes for 34 years in Evansville, IN.  Rose also worked in liturgical music at the Monastery and Kordes Retreat Center in Ferdinand.  Presently, she is the Director of Novices and Postulants and serves part time in Liturgy and gives a few music lessons.

In January and February of 2009,  Rose went to Rome to take the Intensive Study of the Rule from Sr. Aquinata Boeckmann.  IShe learned much about the Rule and also visited the places where Benedict lived—Norcia, Subiaco and Monte Cassino.  It was also a time to see many of the famous places in Rome.  TShe anticipates the experience will help her greatly as Formation Director.

IIn addition, Rose has composed many songs and instrumental pieces that  have been recorded by Stillpoint.  This is a group of eight sisters from our monastery who have recorded music.  The music is religious in nature and was usually written at times of retreat. which is the origin of the groups ’Stillpoint’ name.  They  have made three recordings: “Sounds of Peace,” “Open My Life,” and “Time Made Holy” and are presently in the process of preparing for another recording this summer.  They  also give concerts, parish missions and days of recollection.  On the flip side, they play dance music for community, parish and family gatherings.  They thoroughly enjoy performing both kinds of music.

Rose’s  favorite book at the present moment is “Holy Longings” by Ron Rohlheiser.  In her spare time, Ishe enjoy sall kinds of music, doing counted cross-stitch, making puzzles, walking, swimming, observing the beauty of nature and being with friends.

Rose, elected at the 2009 Symposium, is serving her first term as Recording Secretary for the Core Team.  She is responsible for recording minutes of all meetings and phone conferences.
